In Astrological Alchemy, Joan Negus writes about Mercury-Pluto:

“If there are important issues you wish to discuss, prepare and rehearse what you want to say before you actually speak. It is not easy to retract statements made under these aspects; and if you speak unwisely, your words might haunt you. You could become so obsessed with what has transpired that you play the scene over and over again in your mind. Recognizing your words could have a powerful impact should help you to be cautious (but not muted) during Pluto to Mercury aspects. These periods can be positively used for research. They could be considered an alchemical application in that you are keeping occupied and thereby possibly avoiding rash communications or continual reliving of scenarios that can not be altered.”

(With Mars on the Midheaven, it might be a good idea to avoid hasty speech that might harm your reputation.)
